The Bardensbo Brewer
In the twilight, where trees, bushes, houses, and living creatures were all clothed in gray, they followed the lights. Almost like fireflies they appeared between the tree trunks and they were a welcome direction to follow, here where all lines were blurred. With the darkness came the cold and as they walked towards the lit windows they hurled themselves in the wind.
Finally they reached a narrow, old door with six small and fogged windows. Behind the blurred glas they sensed movements, light and warmth.
A deep breath.
Then, they knocked."Enter", it sounded behind the door, the voice baring no signs of surprise. More as if it had expected the visit. They looked at each other and then opened the door with a faint complaining sound from the old hinges.
The warmth met them like an embrace and the air was filled with a scent of...
They looked at each other. It smelled like food and then again not. Their stomachs woke in slight anticipation."Sit", said a man, hovering over a large kettle. He smiled vaguely and with a dripping spoon pointed to a soft couch, "You look like you could need to rest those legs".
They sat down a little hesitantly and admitted in their quiet minds that their legs were indeed very tired. Again they looked at each other as if trying to figure out what to say. They hadn't really planned to come here. It had just appeared by itself in the cold mist of dusk.
But it was nice here. And warm.
"This is Bardensbo", the man then said, answering their speculations, as his eyes examined the containments of the kettle, "I´m the Barde Brewer".
They nodded briefly but said nothing. In the glow of candlelight, the bard brewer stood thoughtfully stirring his pot. For a while there was only the sound of the flare and the large spoon turning the steaming liquid. The heat displaced the cold in the skin and they felt how they began to relax. Outside the window, a pair of pigeons could be seen leaning on a branch as they swooped.
"Things are moving too hastly outthere", sagde the bard brewer and nodded towards an indeterminate place outside the window. "They forget to breathe. They forget to see the life".
The words hovered in the air for a bit, until he hit the side of his kettlepot with his wooden spoon.
"Whether it's salve, tincture, herbal dye, tea," he began, "I draw all the power out of the plants that have been collected for the purpose. I do this out of respect for each individual plant and because the insignificant must evaporate in order to bring out the essence". He was silent for a while as he assessed the liquid in the spoon.
Smelled it.
Felt it with his fingers.
"We should treat our lives the same". He looked at them inquisitively.
"Why are you here?"
Welcome to Bardensbo
Bardensbo is as much a lifestyle as an online refuge from the every day life.
Here you can die into what the essence of life could be and maybe drain some water from your soup pot so you can really taste the flavour of the brew, extracted from all the wonderful ingredients.
You get to peak into my artistic dwelling, my thoughts and my brewing kitchen and it's up to you, to use whatever you see fit.
My lifestyle is - admittedly - slightly unorthodox, so it goes without saying that what works for me, will not always be suitable for direct implementation.
On the other hand, I'd like to challenge your beliefs on what is possible - which is usually more than we make ourselves believe.
What is Bardensbo?
Bardensbo is my spiritual dwelling - and I gladly admit, I hope to manifest that home some day into the real world.
When I created Bardensbo, I wanted to offer a glimpse into a simple life.
A peaceful life.
Not a life without problems, because they are inevitably part of life.
But a life with acceptance of and gratitude for the terms life hands us - and how to care for the ressources, we have borrowed.
Bardensbo is for you, who looks for spiritual inspiration, as well as ways to spare ressources or just live with a more simple approach.
The Spiritual Fingerprint
The spiritual tool kit is highly influenced by a druidic way of life. If it's the first time you come across the word druid, you can read read more about druids here..
My Druidic imprint mixes Norse heritage with Celtic, perhaps because my soul has known both. Some have also called me a witch - and although there is some truth in that, I'm not much for labels.
All this means that you can find tips for tarot, crystals, moon phases and magical herbs - but also recipes, small beginner's guides, poems and small scribbles to feed the thoughtfulness.
Enjoy
With those words, I just wish you the best. I hope you find a little corner of peace on this site - but the very first question you have to ask yourself before moving on:
"Why are you here?"
What brought you here? What awakens within that makes you read on?
Once you can answer that, you are closer to what you are looking for.
You are always welcome to suggest topics through to Contact section, if you don't find what you're looking for. It may already be on my list, but then I'll know to prioritise it.
One way to support my work is eg. by going to the shop on this page (Denmark only for now) and follow me on social media and sharing the articles that you find interesting.
See you out on the pages...
Have a nice day
